Dr. Hamdi Chaouk is the Director General, Civil Aviation of Lebanon. He was appointed to this post in 2002, bringing about 28 years of experience and expertise in the aviation industry. Prior to this, Dr. Chaouk was Advisor to the Minister of Public Works & Transport for 7 years.
He has had a distinguished career, ranging from an aeronautical engineer, a pilot, an educator at several universities and institutions to various management positions as CEO and Chairman of Boards of airports and airlines in the MENA region as well as an advisor to a number of governments in the Middle East and Aviation Institutions worldwide. He served as Representative of Lebanon on the Council of ICAO for 10 years as well as a member of the executive board of the Airport Council International (ACI-Asia Pacific).
Dr. Chaouk obtained his B.E. (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering and Ph.D. degree from the University of Sydney, Australia. He has published numerous publications on aircraft structures & materials, and presented numerous papers in international conferences & seminars on aviation strategy, planning, liberalisation, restructuring and globalisation.
